5-12-07, Monument Valley, Utah. Steve Jones collides with a pylon after briefly glancing at his manifold pressure gauge. He flew right over us after the collision, luckily making it out in one piece. He said he felt a surge in his propeller, and glanced down to make sure everything was OK, only to lose his direction and strike the pylon.

Britain's Paul Bonhomme snatched the pole position in Saturday's qualifying for the Red Bull Air Race in London after posting the fastest time on the course over the River Thames in front of 17,500 spectators. Hannes Arch of Austria was second and Bonhomme's great rival, American Mike Mangold, took third. Nigel Lamb of Britain was fourth, his best performance of the season.
