A spectacular fire erupted when a train derailed northeast of Oklahoma City, Okla. More than a dozen cars left the tracks, some with hazardous materials. No one was injured, but nearby residents were evacuated. (August 22)

The aftermath of a freight train derailment at Caliente. A freightcar derailed and damaged a switch. After it was repaired the trains were backed up for miles in each direction, so there was a constant parade of freights until sunset and through the night.

The BNSF engine collided with a parked engine causing cars on both trains to derail. The other engine is on it's side behind the BNSF engine. That is not the original paint color. It caught fire. There were injuries. Fortunately no one died. If the BNSF engine had kept going the direction it is facing, it would have gone over a cliff, landing in a river.
